AW19 Press Day
Just before the Easter bank holiday this year, we took our autumn/winter '19 collection to the capital to showcase our sustainable, natural British style to awaiting members of the press. Here are some snaps taken by our Press Officer Emma, giving you a sneak peek at what you can expect to see from us later this year...
Greek Street - Soho
Based in the heart of Soho in London, 19 Greek Street is an old Victorian townhouse used nowadays for events, press days and parties. Comprising of six floors, B - The Communications Agency, who we joined as part of their press day, had turned the house into a fantastic showcase of many different fashion and beauty brands. Emma our Press Officer flew from Cornwall into London the day before to set up the space with a carefully curated selection of outerwear, knitwear and footwear from our forthcoming autumn and winter collection.
Sustainability, The Hot Topic
Being sheepskin specialists, our outerwear naturally dominated the space, offering an array of fully reversible, casually luxurious designs, most predominantly designed and made in Britain. Since sustainability is finally a key focus for everyone working in the fashion journalism industry, Emma enjoyed sharing the Celtic story and informing editors, stylists and bloggers that our British sheepskin is a by-product of the food industry, a waste product bought in support of British farmers and turned into the most luxurious outerwear and footwear. Basically recycling at its very best!
Wool = Renewable + Sustainable
A press day wouldn't be the same without showing off our knitwear items, which were styled with our stand-out outerwear. For AW19 we really have pushed the boundaries of our well-known classic knitwear. Using geelong, merino and donegal wool, we've moved these natural fibres into yet more styles, offered in a wider colour palette such as bold reds, hazy heathers and peacock blues.
Emma was keen to highlight to members of press that Celtic & Co only sells products made from the finest of natural fibres. With the world finally focusing on the damage to the environment that plastics and synthetic fibres are causing (the clothing industry being a HUGE player here), it really is time to invest in natural clothing made from sustainable materials that will last a lifetime and not just one season.
Eyes Down...
We also featured a small selection of footwear alongside our outerwear and knitwear. These included our ever-growing range of rugged leather and suede footwear, designed for both town and country, as well as our iconic British sheepskin boots and slippers,handcrafted in our workshop in Cornwall. We also sneaked in a rare breed sheepskin rug, a Mongolian sheepskin cushion and a mohair throw to highlight that we also offer homeware.
Winter Is Coming
Around 150-200 key members of press from magazines, newspapers and supplements visited the AW19 press day at 19 Greek Street and Emma has already received image requests and sample call-ins for titles working on their early autumn pages. So keep an eye out for our exciting new collection, launching this August.
