Celtic & Co. hires new head of product and buying
Sustainable fashion brand Celtic & Co. has appointed Katy Burnett as its new head of product and buying.
Burnett joins the Cornwall-based company from Coast, where she was a senior buyer in occasion wear, tailoring, shoes, and accessories. She has almost 20 years’ experience in the fashion industry, including senior positions at Warehouse, F&F, and Dorothy Perkins.
Celtic & Co. managing director, James Williams, said: “We are excited to welcome Katy to our senior team, where her extensive experience will be invaluable as we continue to progress with our digital first growth plans for the UK and internationally, introducing the brand to new customers.
“Celtic & Co. has always been associated with premium natural fibres and high-quality British craftsmanship, and Katy’s appointment will allow us to further develop our range with new natural and sustainable materials, invigorating the brand while preserving our core values.”
Established in 1990 by husband-and-wife team Nick and Kath Whitworth, Celtic & Co. is an online retailer specialising in knitwear and sheepskin products, including its sheepskin slippers and boots which are handmade in its factory in Newquay. Celtic & Co. are British pioneers of the slow fashion movement, creating natural, timeless products sourced as close to home as possible.
“Sustainability is becoming increasingly more important in the world of fashion, though it’s something that has been woven into the DNA of Celtic & Co. since day one and is one of the big things that attracted me to the brand,” said Katy.
“The concept of sustainable fashion is authentic here, it’s on everyone’s agenda. I’m excited to be at the forefront of a team all working in the same direction and feel passionate about the beautiful clothing we produce.
“I’m excited to grow our range of investment pieces through the introduction of new environmentally-friendly fibres and continued ethical manufacturing, providing more options with our signature Celtic identity for our customers to add more versatility into their wardrobes.”
